Edel Stocks
Canton-native tokenized equities and ETFs, backed 1:1 through tokenized equity providers.
Overview
Edel Stocks are tokenized representations of publicly traded equities and ETFs, issued natively on Canton Network. Each Edel Stock is backed 1:1 by the corresponding underlying equity, held in reserve through established tokenized equity providers.
Edel Stocks are designed to function as Canton-native instruments that integrate with Canton wallets, trading venues, and applications. They are minted exclusively on Canton Network and are not issued on, or bridged to, any other network.
Edel Stocks provide onchain exposure to well-known stocks and ETFs in a format that supports transfers, private settlement, and composability within the Canton ecosystem, while preserving an economic link to the underlying equity.
Core Characteristics
1:1 Backed.
Each Edel Stock is backed by one unit of a tokenized equity representing the same stock or ETF, which is in turn backed by the underlying share.
Canton-Native.
Minted natively on Canton Network. Edel Stocks are issued directly on Canton and do not rely on a bridge.
Private.
Holdings and transfers are visible only to the transacting parties and the issuer, in line with Canton's privacy model. Positions are not exposed on a public ledger.
Transferable.
Edel Stocks can be held, transferred between Canton parties, and integrated into Canton wallets and applications.

Edel Stocks can be transferred and traded around the clock on supported Canton venues. Issuance and redemption through Edel operate 24/5, aligned with U.S. equity market hours.
Self-Custodial.
Holders can keep Edel Stocks in their own Canton party through supported wallets and retain full control of the asset.
Composable.
Designed for use across Canton applications, including trading venues, lending markets, and structured products. Edel Stocks can settle atomically against stablecoins and other Canton assets within a single transaction.
Fractional.
Edel Stocks can be held and transferred in fractional amounts.
Backing Model
Edel Stocks are backed by tokenized equities issued by third-party providers on other networks. Edel acquires these backing assets and holds them in reserve. Edel Stocks are minted on Canton only against backing assets held in reserve, and the circulating supply of each Edel Stock does not exceed the units of its corresponding backing asset held.

Price-Based Sourcing
For each issuance, Edel compares acquisition prices across supported providers and acquires the backing asset from the venue offering the most favorable execution at that time. The reserve for a given Edel Stock may therefore consist of backing assets from more than one provider.
Economic Link
Each backing asset is issued by its respective provider and backed by the underlying share held with that provider's custodian. Edel Stocks track the underlying equity through these backing assets, and holders are exposed to the backing providers in addition to Edel.
Additional providers and networks may be added to the backing basket over time.
